Treatment Philosophy

Body/Mind/Spirit/Soul

Body: Functional testing will rule out correctable nutritional deficiencies, identify food allergies, and make dietary recommendations to improve your Body’s journey.

Mind: Exercise the element or complex of elements in one’s Mind that feels, perceives, thinks, wills, and reasons in the “Mind Gym” that is my office and process.

Soul: Explore the Soul which (according to Jungian theory) is the feminine, dark, moist intermediary between the Body, Mind, and the Spirit that produces a way of knowing via perceiving and imagining.

Spirit: Address the Spirit – the mental, dry, upward-seeking, masculine – through spiritual practice recommendations such as yoga and meditation.

My Treatment Approach

I have had wonderful success getting my patients off of psychiatric medications over the years using a combination of an integral, transpersonal and skill development driven Mindfulness-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy along with evidence based lifestyle medicine practices. My latest  insights coming from over 25 years of clinical work have led me to introduce to my patients the “committee in your head” or the “actors on the stage of the play of your life.” In essence I will show you who is CEO, CFO and COO of the corporation called you. This evolves from C. G. Jung's conceptualizations of archetypes and shadow. I also love to add to this depth psychology's work with the deepest layer of the psyche, the existential layer so one becomes comfortable with death, isolation, meaninglessness and freedom, free will and the responsibility you have to author a life in the face of these existential elements.

Overall my style is eclectic having cherry-picked the best from a number of psychotherapeutic styles. Let me introduce you to Coach Whipcracker! This very masculine committee member on my team was born in the 1980's teaching nationally ranked kids and young adults tennis. Today he motivates and holds my patients accountable to the goals they set for themselves and their therapy.

The Biopsychosocial model: Our society is out of balance, all individuals are part of a group, the canary in a coal mine, our indigenous people are showing us our society is insane

  • Depth psychological orientation focused on change at the root/origin

  • Existential Psychotherapeutic Orientation

  • Hero's Journey Stage Awareness

  • Holistic, Osteopathic philosophy driven appreciation of the psyche's innate ability to heal itself

  • Intuition guided and always in support of increasing the patient's contact with their intuition which then makes the process a Healer heal-thyself/ Inner healer guided process

  • Jungian Archetypal orientation: Let me introduce you to the actors on your stage, the committee in your head and who is CEO/running the show

  • Jungian Archetypal Orientation: Specific work to address 4 main players we all have-The Child, Victim, Saboteur and the Prostitute (Life Purpose)

  • Mindfulness-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (MBCBT)

  • Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction

  • Psychotherapeutic orientation-I do psychotherapy with almost every patient I work with

  • "Technologies for Transformation" including "Completing the Circle of the Past" and "Languaging the Circle of the Future"

  • Transpersonal awareness

  • Trauma Sensitive however I am Not yet a Trauma Specialist

  • To come with further development: Body-centered psychotherapy/integration of a more Osteopathic/Hands-on approach, this will lead to a softer more feminine allowing/being with approach as I become increasingly more in touch with that aspect of my psyche.
